Serbia is the total area of 8,840,000 hectares.

Agricultural land covers 5,734,000 hectares of which 4,867,000 hectares of land is arable land. Over 70 percent of the Serbian territory is used for agriculture and 30 percent is forested. Favorable natural and climatic conditions are very important for the development of agriculture.

The plains of Vojvodina, Morava, Posavina are well suited for mechanized agriculture and vegetable growing. The hills and mountains are also important for the development of fruit, wine and animal production.
